Chuck McDermott w/ Special Guest Paige Calico

Chuck McDermott w/ Special Guest Paige Calico
Chuck McDermott is “one of the most fascinating, under-the-radar singers of his generation”, according to former Boston Globe music critic Steve Morse.  The Massachusetts Country Music Hall Of Fame inductee first made noise in the Boston music scene in the 1970’s with his alt-country band “Chuck McDermott and Wheatstraw”. With a decade of constant touring and two LPs that won praise from Rolling Stone, the New York Times and other publications, the group became one of the most popular live acts in the Northeast.  In 1980, McDermott moved to LA where he formed the more rock-oriented Chuck McDermott Band. He also began a close collaboration with songwriting legend John Stewart, contributing to four of Stewart’s albums and touring with him as a duo in the US and Europe.

After some years in the jungles of environmental politics and parenthood, Chuck is back with a new record “Gin & Rosewater”, a saddlebag of new original material and ever-surprising “twisted covers”, and an A Team band consisting of Marco Giovino on drums (Robert Plant, Buddy Miller, Rodney Crowell, Norah Jones..), Richard Gates on Bass (Richard Thompson, Patty Larkin, Ellis Paul) and Peter Hoffman on guitar (Willie Nile, The Band That Time Forgot).  Together they move from hushed nuance to roaring thunder. An acclaimed songwriter, his themes follow the arc of his life – finding light inside the dark, the frailties of human nature, the comic absurdities of our daily routines. As Paste Magazine describes it,"His music is simply pure art."

Special Guest Paige Calico - Somewhere between what you've loved and what you've lost lives the sweetest form of nostalgia. Paige Calico's songs take you just to that space. Harmonies that hold you in the safe arms of love with lyrics that make you question how long that feeling will last.

From growing up a Jersey girl, to living in a Chevy Coachman, to her solo journey across the country and finding her new home of Los Angeles, Calico takes you on a journey with her music.

Paige's debut solo EP "Crying Diamonds," is made up of six delicately crafted songs combining dark, catchy folk with tones of etherial choral pop. Her Sophomore collection of songs support her sultry, smoky voice with shimmering guitars, vibey synths, and a touch of dirt and grit.

Calico is currently in the studio working on a new record and dipping her toes into a world that marries vintage to modern sound.
