Jessye DeSilva and The Godless Heathens, Paisley Fields, Three at Home

Jessye DeSilva and The Godless Heathens, Paisley Fields, Three at Home
Jessye DeSilva (they/them) seamlessly blends theatrical pop elements with folk and roots music to form their piano-driven alt-americana sound. They infuse hope into songs about religious trauma, mental health struggles, and societal injustice to create a uniquely queer and unholy ruckus. Jessye’s latest album Renovations received press from No Depression, Rolling Stone, The Boot, and NPR. No Depression has said of Jessye “Comparisons to Elton John and Brandi Carlile are easy — DeSilva clearly takes a page from these idols, anchoring their songs in pop melody juggernauts, gauzy textures, and vocal bravado.” American Songwriter has said their “catalog doesn’t skimp on razor-sharp lyrics, paired frequently with an almost ethereal vocal,” and Nashville Scene named Jessye a 2023 Artist To Watch, saying “DeSilva could inject new life into a genre that could definitely use a little more pretzel logic.”

Paisley Fields - Born and raised in rural Iowa, Paisley Fields channels queer identity into a unique and authentic brand of outlaw country. Steeped in the style from an early age, he was drawn to the twangy sounds and dramatic storytelling the music had to offer. Despite his earnest and unabashed love for the genre, he recognizes that the broader cultural conception of country music was not always one of inclusivity. “I never saw anyone like myself in country music, so I want to be a person who can empower people, and let them know they belong.” He now sees himself as a part of a growing current within country music, creating a version of the music he loved that now includes queer people. This often puts Paisley Fields in punk-adjacent circles, sharing bills with punk bands and releasing music through Don Giovanni Records, a label primarily known for punk and pop-punk. Despite his queer identity putting him at odds with much of the country scene, Paisley Fields plays a fairly traditional country style, preserving the sounds that drew him to the music in the first place. Honky tonk pianos, shuffling snare drums and slide guitars create the foundation for cowboy anthems like “Stay Away From my Man” and “Jesus Loving American Guy (Limp Wrist)”. Now splitting time between Brooklyn and Nashville, Paisley Fields is reaching new audiences by touring the country, appearing in publications like DemocracyNOW, NBC News, and Rolling Stone, and receiving airplay from SiriusXM, CMT, and other radio stations.
