SHK Music Presents: The Kami Lyle Sing-A-While with Special Guest Johnny Spampinato at Boston Harbor Distillery

SHK Music Presents: The Kami Lyle Sing-A-While with Special Guest Johnny Spampinato at Boston Harbor Distillery

Missed the last show with special guest Johnny Spampinato? Well here’s your chance to see Joey and Johnny play together.

Kami Lyle “Trumpet or Girl Scouts, pick one.” And so, on her ninth birthday, Kami Lyle waved goodbye to the scouts and bolted for Schmitt’s music store in Minneapolis, MN.

Acceptance into the Berklee College of Music took her to Boston, where she discovered she loved singing and songwriting. She graduated and relocated to Nashville, TN, where she enjoyed writing, performing at The Bluebird, and doing jingles/session work. A buzz grew quickly, and soon she had a co-publishing deal (Criterion Music Corp.) and a recording contract (MCA/Universal Music).

Kami’s first album, Blue Cinderella, produced by Hugh Padgham (Sting, Melissa Etheridge, Phil Collins) put her on VH1 with the single “Polka Dots” and was well-received by critics and fans alike.
She loved Nashville but it didn’t have an ocean, so she moved to Cape Cod. Her underwater iPod is currently bursting with Lizzo, Tom Waits, Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Chet Baker, and NRBQ.

Kami is passionate about songwriting and has enjoyed teaching privately and also at Steve Earle's Camp Copperhead. Her songs have appeared in film and television soundtracks, including Bones (FOX), Young and the Restless (CBS), Real World (MTV), and For Love of the Game (with Kevin Costner). Co-writers include Lisa Loeb, Manu Katché, and Tom Harrell, with “Straight to My Heart” being recorded by Tom Harrell and featuring the great Dianne Reeves. Kami has toured with Robert Earl Keen, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Steve Forbert, and 10,000 Maniacs. She has opened shows for Shawn Colvin, Lyle Lovett, and The Boston Pops by the Sea.

Kami Lyle and Friends (Joey Spampinato, Jerome Deupree, Barbara Blaisdell, and Tim Utt) were honored to be invited to perform at The Continental Club for the South by Southwest Conference & Festival in March of 2023. They have a blast performing together and can currently be seen at the beautiful Boston Harbor Distillery.

Meet Johnny Spampinato, the rock maestro with a resume as vibrant as his guitar licks. This seasoned musician is no stranger to the limelight, having graced stages across the globe and even making a cameo on "The Simpsons" with NRBQ.

Johnny's musical journey has been a rollercoaster of epic proportions. From touring SOME of the world to sharing the spotlight on Conan, he's left his mark on the music scene. But here's where it gets interesting - remember those legendary Sunday afternoon shows at the Wellfleet Beachcomber with the Incredible Casuals? Well, Johnny not only rocked the stage but managed to turn it into the world's coolest summer job, clocking in an impressive 34 years!

In '94, he teamed up with his brother Joey in NRBQ, kicking off a ten-year stint that resonated with fans worldwide. Not content to rest on past glories, the Spampinato Brothers emerged, taking their rock anthem crusade all the way to Japan.

Fast forward to today, and Johnny is at the helm of "The Value Leaders." Armed with a mean lefty guitar and a voice that can serenade the toughest crowd, he continues to command attention wherever he goes. So, if you're looking to catch a glimpse of rock royalty in action, keep an eye out for Johnny and his band. After all, when he's not busy conquering stages, he's proving that rocking out can be a lifelong career – and one heck of a fun ride!

Joey Spampinato is a multi-instrumentalist and was a founding member and bass player of NRBQ. He played bass on many albums, including Keith Richards' album Talk Is Cheap and Bonnie Raitt's Fundamental, and was one of the bassists on Eric Clapton's 24 Nights in 1991.

He appeared in the film Hail, Hail Rock N’ Roll, with rock legends Chuck Berry and Keith Richards. Spampinato's songs have been covered by Bonnie Raitt, Shakin' Stevens, Los Lobos, Dave Edmunds, and others.

This event is being presented by SHK Music at the Boston Harbor Distillery - a wonderfully unique and intimate setting to take in great music with its 1850s architecture, great acoustics, comfortable seating, and a fantastic selection of made-on-the-premises liquors and liqueurs. And there's plenty of free parking too. https://www.shkmusic.com/faq
