Township, AKA The Family Township, is a band. They took to the stage April 12, 2006 and never looked back. With an unyielding desire to make honest rock and roll that honors their forebears yet belongs to none other, The Family Township remains true to that credo. They have never wavered. Township is a band. A love of dueling guitars, big bass, driving drums, crushing keys, and soaring vocals are experienced in all their dynamic glory on every record and stage. As the cliche says, it’s in their souls – mingled with all the humor and horrors of life on Earth. As souls of a similar sort do, they find each other. And when they do, they do what they do. Because they have to. Township is a band.

If you like buzzing indie rock with a strong pop sensibility, you too may find yourself wondering where this band has been all your life! Boston was the home to a slew of great, guitar-centered college radio rock bands throughout the ’90s—everyone from Buffalo Tom and The Pixies to The Lemonheads and Letters To Cleo called Boston home, helping to define an entire region’s sound for most of the decade. So, it comes as little surprise that it would take another local Boston band, Stars Like Ours, to finally pick up that flag again.
