SHK Music Presents: Kimon Kirk and the Meds at Boston Harbor Distillery
Bassist, singer-songwriter-guitarist, and producer Kimon Kirk's release, Altitude, is his first solo album in ten years. A founding member of local heroes Session Americana, Kimon has been the bassist in Latin Grammy winner Gaby Moreno’s band since 2016. He has toured and written songs with Aimee Mann, toured as bassist for Alejandro Escovedo, Grant-Lee Phillips, and Sarah Borges, and produced albums for Massachusetts favorites Amy Correia and Dennis Brennan. Kimon moved from Boston to Los Angeles in 2018 and has since provided bass and vocals for the likes of Rufus Wainwright, Van Dyke Parks, and Rodney Crowell. At Warehouse XI, Kimon will perform with his longtime Boston band of guitarist Russell Chudnofsky, keyboardist Jamie Edwards, bassist Jim Haggerty, and drummer John Sands, all of whom appear on Altitude and help to create an album that "shines a golden melodic light on the darker corners of the human soul, beguiling the listener onto a higher plane. The Heygoods - Any band that spotlights off-kilter guy/girl harmonies is bound to inspire comparisons to similar ones that have gone before, and the Heygoods line up pretty well behind a fair percentage of them. The Boston band is made up primarily of the husband-and-wife team of David and Katie Champagne on guitars and mandolin, with a handful of able country players in support.
Formerly a member of The Heygoods in the early 2000s, Kimon's reunion with the band promises to be a rare treat, as they've only played a handful of shows in the last 15 years.
