SHK Music Presents: Big Dez and Sax Gordon with the Wicked Lo-Down at Boston Harbor Distillery

SHK Music Presents: Big Dez and Sax Gordon with the Wicked Lo-Down at Boston Harbor Distillery
Join us for a night of real deal blues & rock-n-roll as Parisian Blues guitar giant Big Dez joins America's own saxaphone great Sax Gordon and New England supergroup The Wicked Lo-Down. This will be a rare, unforgettable night of music that you will not want to miss!

Big Dez - Legend has it, in a shack in the Paris region, where they rehearsed a repertoire of English and American Blues, is where Phil Fernandez united his guitars with Lamine Guerfi's bass. From this union, the group BIG DEZ was born in 1996.

The family grew quickly with the arrival of Marc Schaeller on harmonica. After having scoured the bars of the Paris region for a few years, the call of the sea sent them to the United States where they befriended artists from Chicago, Austin, and Saint Louis. The muses grabbing a hold of Phil Fernandez, and the band composed their first album, "Sail On Blues" recorded in Austin, Texas in 2003.

The album "Night after Night", would soon follow while still in Austin, in 2004 and "You can Smile" in Jamestown MO in 2007. In February 2009, Big Dez was selected by Blues sur Seine to represent France at the INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE in Memphis Tennessee.
That same year, “Late Live” appeared in an anthology of various European concerts, before Angevin sweetness inspired Big Dez for the next two albums: “Lazy Star” in 2010 and “Wet Paint” in 2012.

More than twenty years after its creation, Big Dez is now composed of Phil Fernandez on guitar and vocals, Lamine Guerfi on bass, Paco "Lefty hand" on guitar, Guillaume Destarac on drums, Léa Worms on keyboards and Marc Schaeller on the harmonica.
The gang continues to attend European and American festivals with as much energy as ever. The Big Dez style is electric blues mixed with humor and melancholy, strongly tinged with funk, soul, and rock'n roll.

Sax Gordon - No other performer on the scene today brings to life and pushes forward the great tradition of Rockin' American Saxophone like Sax Gordon.
From an early start in garage bands, church groups, jazz combos and big bands in northern California, Gordon graduated to work and record with Bay-Area Blues giant Johnny Heartsman. After relocating to the East coast, a regular gig with Little Joe Cook & the Thrillers was followed by five years of touring and recording with Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson which established Gordon on the international scene. With Luther's encouragement, Gordon continued to develop his signature style - wild and exciting sax inspired by Blues, Soul, Jazz, and Rock & Roll.

Gordon has recorded and toured internationally with Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Junior Watson, and Toni Lynn Washington as well as with the Duke Robillard Band with whom he also backed Blues and Swing greats Jimmy Witherspoon and Jay McShann on tours and recordings. Gordon has also toured internationally with Roomful of Blues, John Hammond, Sherman Robertson, and Soul legend Solomon Burke, while at home he has worked with a who's who of American Blues and Soul music greats including Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, James Cotton, Junior Wells, Little Milton, Ben E. King, Hubert Sumlin, Sam Moore (of Sam & Dave), Johnny Johnson, Howard Tate, Martha Reeves, Mighty Sam McClain, Johnny Copeland, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds among others.

The Wicked Lo-Down - Formed in 2020 just before the Covid lockdown by guitar giant Paul Size (The Red Devils, Mick Jagger, Sugar Ray & the Bluetones) and powerhouse blues belter Nick David (Mr. Nick & the Dirty Tricks, Queen City Kings), they blend raw Texas Blues and hard hitting Northeast R&B into their own completely original house rockin' sound. Their newly released debut album “We Hot” has been receiving critical acclaim from some of the biggest names in the Blues world and beyond. Consisting of ten well crafted, rock solid barn burners, this record establishes them as a true force to be reckoned with and leaves no doubt that from Austin to Boston is how they roll.

“We Hot” is the kind of album we all wish people were making - raw, filthy, sweet, joyous…” - Monster Mike Welch

“Nick is a songwriting fool and this is a hell of a record. Put it on your sound system and crank it up! ” - Curtis Salgado
